Davines E-Commerce Packaging

Davines is an international hair care brand rooted in regenerative agriculture techniques, sustainability, and great hair. They approached Guacamole Airplane to re-design the packaging for their e-commerce lines. We had carte blanche (a designer's dream!) to start over. That’s a compliment coming from a long established company with a strong brand position. My role with Guacamole Airplane spanned the entire project, from sketching out structural concepts, mapping out the unboxing journey, rendering the initial designs, hand building prototypes, and working with Davines’ internal art department to translate Davines’ brand into a multi-lingual unboxing experience across the shipping box, collateral, and tape. The ethics of sustainability is top of mind for Davines as it is deeply embedded in their practices. To that end, we designed a package that reduces touches at assembly to a minimum, keeps it secure during transport, reduces the cost to ship by reducing, and consists of materials that are traceable and sustainably sourced. Once the forms were selected, we edited and refined the chosen designs with Davines’ team.
